What
is a "Subluxation"?
A Subluxation exists when two spinal bones
(vertebra) become misaligned in relationship
with each other. This slight vertebra misalignment
encroaches upon nerve tissue disrupting
proper transmission of co-ordinational
impulses throughout the body. This causes
the areas of the body supplied by those
nerves to malfunction. When present, Vertebral
Subluxation threatens the inborn self-regulating
mechanisms of the body. Ultimately compromising
the body's ability to properly adapt to
environmental stresses, lowering resistance
to illness, infection and
disease. Subluxations
are caused by any physical, mental, or
chemical stress the body cannot adapt to.
Trauma being the simplest to understand,
just watch children play for 15 minutes.
Adults are more exposed to microtrauma...lifting,
bending and twisting are just a few examples.
How will I know if I have one?
When the Vertebral
Subluxation Complex is present many things
can happen to the spine, muscles, tendons
and ligaments and the organs and tissues
controlled by the affected nerves. The
Vertebral Subluxation Complex usually has
five major interrelated components as listed
below.
